Exclusivity and Specialized Recruitment

The relatively rarefied market of top executives, managers and experts is finally being addressed by specialist websites and exclusive job boards that focus on high-value candidates.

This trend is illustrated by specialist and expert job boards featuring management jobs in France or perhaps concentrating only on IT and finance jobs in Switzerland.

Many executives and top specialists are hesitant to register on large supermarket sites like JOBS or MONSTER which are geared to a mass market.

Newer niche sites that concentrate on high earners or elite job functions have a different dynamic. As PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ Michael Hemplewaite explains, “very high value candidates often don’t like to use websites at all. That’s changing, but these sorts of job seekers remain very selective and suspicious.”

Another visible trend is the tendency for new job boards to focus on smaller geographic areas or on a single specialty such as medicine, nursing, sales, or jobs in scientific research.

Online job boards are generate over $25 billion in revenues globally, though the last 18 months have seen a 35% drop in earnings.
